UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) solutions in train stations |
In train stations, there are mission critical applications which require video surveillance systems and transaction systems. These systems require 24/7 operation and a managed shutdown process. Anything less could cause loss or damage of valuable data. An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) will reduce the risk of data loss or damage.

Systems powered via UPS |
|
Lights, cash tills, security alarms and surveillance cameras are all powered via Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. The UPS systems serve as a battery back up device as well as a continuous supply of filtered electric power to connected systems or devices. In a train station, typical systems powered via a UPS include Digital Video Recorders (DVR) and Networked Video Recorders (NVR) for security surveillance; ticket dispenser machines and entry / exit barriers. |

UPS SYSTEMS |
A UPS system consists of a battery source, converters and control devices. The system is designed to minimise or eliminate the effect of power disturbances (blackout, frequency deviation, harmonic distortion, noise, spikes, surges and transients).
When using AC power supply, the UPS conditions the signal received by attached systems by continuously filtering minor power or voltage and frequency fluctuations. The UPS provides isolation between the input and output hence shielding critical equipment from power supply inconsistencies.
Consequences of not using a UPS in a critical application include data loss, production loss and customer service deterioration. Thus, loss of business.
