The Model 1173 extender will transparently extend Ethernet connections up to 1.8km over a single 'telephone-grade' twisted pair. This means that a defunct pair of telephone wires or surplus RS485 (PTZ) cabling can be used to build an Ethernet link to IP cameras and other Ethernet devices in remote locations. This solution can save the cost of installing expensive fibre-optic cable or complex wireless bridging equipment.
