The Fibre section features a range of "protocol" to fibre converters.
It is often beneficial to use noise immune fibre optic cables instead of copper cables in environments with high electrical noise or simply to extend the permitted range of "device to device" links. As a rule of thumb, Multimode fibre optics will transmit data at least 2km whereas singlemode fibre is good for 20km. Fibre optic connectors are typically of the SC or ST variety for industrial applications although the small footprint MTRJ is becoming increasingly popular. If you need help in specifying a fibre network for any protocol, please do not hesitate to contact our sales team on 01273 570 220. Also see the Industrial Ethernet section for switches with built-in fibre connections.
Amplicon can now offer custom fibre cable assemblies as well as fibre network installation and OTDR testing services.
