DAP boards from Microstar use on-board microprocessors and memory to run the DAPL operating software independently from your Windows or Linux PC. This means that all the data processing can be performed in real-time, without interruptions from Windows routines or failures. DAPL is specially designed for data acquisition applications so can perform calculations such as FFTs, FIR filters, PID control and software triggering on board the PCI DAP board, before transferring the results to Windows for further analysis and display.
DAP boards can provide gap-free input and output simultaneously, with independent sampling speeds and gain settings. Each board can be expanded for multiple channels directly controlled by the DAP board. Alternatively on-board circuitry supports synchronisation of up to 14 DAP boards running in the same PC, to obtain maximum sampling speeds for high channel counts. Further details are available here.
